What businesses do you run?

Taylor Row Reed is the executive director and founder of Live Love Nashville, a nonprofit that helps children in need across Middle Tennessee. Since 2017, the organization has provided essential items such as school supplies, winter clothing, backpacks, and weekend food packs. They also ensure that children who might not otherwise receive them get Christmas gifts. In times of crisis—whether it’s an unexpected illness, death, or natural disasters like tornadoes and house fires—Live Love Nashville steps in to provide critical support to families in their most challenging moments.

How did you get started as an entrepreneur?

Taylor’s path into the nonprofit world wasn’t planned. She was working in an oral surgery office, with no background in charity work and no intention of starting a nonprofit. But after conversations with friends who were teachers, she became aware of the urgent needs facing children in local classrooms. They needed basic supplies—things like toothbrushes, hygiene items, and simple foods like ramen noodles that kids could prepare themselves over the weekend. The more she learned about these needs, the more she felt compelled to take action.

With limited financial resources herself, Taylor knew she couldn’t tackle the issue alone. She reached out to friends and family, raising awareness about the children in need who lived just minutes from their own homes. As more people became aware, they wanted to help, and from there, Live Love Nashville was born. Taylor made a conscious decision early on to dedicate all donations to the children—she didn’t pay herself and kept the focus entirely on helping others. Her passion for the cause drove her to take a leap of faith, even without any prior experience in running a nonprofit.

How do you think about growth in your current business? How do you plan for the future?

Taylor attributes the growth of Live Love Nashville to the community that rallied around the cause. She believes that surrounding herself with like-minded individuals—people who shared her passion for helping children—was essential. This core group of supporters helped elevate the organization from a small effort into a significant community resource.

Despite the many challenges her nonprofit has faced, such as the tornado that destroyed the building where they stored Christmas gifts in December 2023, Taylor’s focus remains on resilience. Even though the building was wrecked, the gifts and food inside were miraculously unharmed. This kind of hope and determination fuels her approach to the future. Taylor understands that obstacles will come, but she keeps her mission at the forefront and presses forward, believing that passion and community support will always find a way.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Taylor’s biggest advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple: take the leap of faith. She knows firsthand how easy it is to get caught up in doubts and hesitations, but if you’re passionate about something, that passion should be your driving force. “You can come up with a thousand reasons not to do something,” she says, “but if you believe in your heart that it’s worth it, that’s all the reason you need.”

She also stresses the importance of surrounding yourself with people who believe in your vision. No one can do it alone, and having a strong, supportive community is crucial to turning dreams into reality. Taylor encourages entrepreneurs to stay focused on their mission, no matter how many obstacles get in the way. Don’t let logistics or outside voices deter you from doing what you know is right. Passion, persistence, and people who believe in you are the keys to success.

You can think of a thousand reasons why you shouldn’t do something but the one reason to do it, if you just stick with that...everything else will follow.
